My write up on content-based materials

Grade level and description on how I have created the material

This material is the new one from what I have uploaded in the earlier months. It is a video tutorial lesson from science text and the topic is “Everyday materials”.

The material is created using power point presentation with the help of its various features like shapes and animations and I have also used camtesia studio-8 to make video tutorial. You will understand this topic well because it’s more of concrete learning.

 

Instructions for creating content based materials are as follows:

1.      Firstly, I have chosen PowerPoint with camtesia integrated as my ICT tools for designing my materials that is video tutorial.

2.       I have created the power point using its different features and which is at the end integrated with camtesia studio to make the video tutorial.

3.      In the process of teaching, I have created some more realistic materials which will help the students to enhance and understand more about the topic as its video tutorial where the lesson is fully explained.

4.      To further understand the topic I have the framed questions at the last slide.

Activity instruction

The material I have designed will be used during Lesson Introduction.

a.       I will take students to the ICT lab.

b.      Will let them watch video tutorial lesson which will be screened on the projector.

c.       I will let them watch twice for more understanding.

d.      I will make a pause at the end of the lesson where I have given few questions to check their understanding.

e.       After that, will let them do the activity individually which is given at the end of the video tutorial.

f.       They will copy the table in their notebook and complete the answer.

g.      After that will let them share their answer to the class.

h.      Lastly will show them the last part of the lesson that is activity question with answer to the class.

i.        Students will make changes if their answer is incorrect.

Finally, I will let few students to talk brief about the lesson and their understanding from the video tutorial.

Blog 4

 

Hello again!

Today in continuation with my previous blog  I am going to blog on how to use ICT tools to introduce about ‘wild animals’ to grade 1 students. Wild animals are those animals which lives in the forest or away from human. In this topic I am going to introduce different types of wild animals with the name and short description about the animal. I am not only going to teach them about wild animals but also the description about how they look and what food they eat. Learning about wild animals  not only help children identify and name the animal, it also helps them learn about the forest and live of those animals in the forest. In addition to that it can also help students to differentiate between wild and domestic animals.

My lesson today focuses on the different types of wild animals. To introduce grade 1 students about wild animals and different types of wild animals I have created simple but effective teaching learning materials (TLM) or you can call content based material, made in Power Point Presentation (ppt) with some animation and converted into video so that they can learn better by watching the video. Learning about animal is very important and it is much more beneficial.

Lesson objectives

By the end of the lesson each child will be able to:

·         name and identify the wild animals correctly after watching the video.

·         describe wild animal after watching the video.

·         Differentiate between wild and domestic animals.   

The instructions for creating content based materials/TLM  are as follow

·         First of all, I have chosen Power Point out of many other ICT tools to create TLM

·         Then I have downloaded attractive pictures of wild animals and inserted microsof Power Point.

·         Next I have inserted the sound of each animals along with the picture to make it interesting.

·         I have also written the name of the animals along with short description about the particular animal.

·         And also I have added some animation to look more attractive to children

·         And I have recorded the voice explaining them each slides.

·         I have around  9 slides, where last side is for activity to check whether students have understood the lesson or not.

·         Lastly I have converted ppt into video using camteasia studio.

When should the materials be used?                

The material can be used in lesson introduction, development and learning activity.

We can introduce the lesson by introducing about wild animals, defining wild animals. In lesson development we can name and describe each animal with how they look like and what they eat for survival. Lastly, I have designed the activity to check whether each of them understood the lesson clearly or not. And the activity questions are framed based on the previous slides presented.

This activity is mainly focused on connecting previous lesson about domestic animals with today’s lesson about wild animals.

Write at least three differences between wild and domestic animals with the examples in the table given.

Today I am going to blog on how to use ICT tools to introduce about ‘Domestic animals’ to grade 1 students. Domestic animals are those animals which lives in and around our house. In this topic I am going to introduce different types of domestic animals with the name and short description about the animal. I am not only going to teach them about domestic animals but also the importance of keeping domestic animals in everyday life. Learning about domestic animals  not only help children identify and name the animal, it also helps them learn the importance and benefits of keeping those animals.

My lesson today focuses on the different types of domestic animals and the benefits. To introduce grade 1 students about domestic animals and different types of domestic animals I have created simple but effective teaching learning materials (TLM) or you can call content based material, made in Power Point Presentation (ppt) with some animation and converted into video so that they can learn better by watching the video. Hello everyone!

I am here with another blog and today I am going to blog on how to use ICT tools to intro


duce about the to ‘Fruits’  to grade 1 students. Fruit is the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food. In this topic I am going to introduce different types of fruits like apple, banana, watermelon, grapes and etc. I am not only going to teach them about fruits but also its colour and the importance of eating fruit in everyday life. Learning about fruits not only help children identify and name the fruit, it helps them learn the importance of eating fruits and growing fruits in every day life.

My lesson today focuses on the different types of fruits and the colour of the fruits. To introduce grade 1 students about different types of fruits I have created simple but effective teaching learning materials (TLM) or you can call content based material, made in Power Point Presentation (ppt) with some animation and converted into video so that they can learn better by watching the video. Learning about fruits is very important and it is much more fun and interesting.

By the end of the lesson each child will be able to:

·         tell the colours of the each fruits correctly.

·         Tell and know the benefits after watching the video.

·         Then I have made each fruit using shapes available there in my  Power Point.

·         Next I have colored the fruits to look attractive and to teach the colour of the fruits

·         I have also written the name of the fruits along with it’s colour.

·         And also I have added some animation to look more attractive to children

·         Also i have recorded the voice explaining them each slides.

·         I have around  11 slide, where 8th side is for activity to check whether students have understood the lesson or not.

·         Lastly i have converted ppt into video using camtasia studio.

Blog 1

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to blog on how to use ICT tools to teach 2D shapes to grade 1 students. 2D Shapes is nothing but a geometric figure such as square, triangle, rectangle or circle which has two dimension. Learning 2D shapes not only help children identify and organize visual information, it helps them learn skills in other curriculum areas including reading, math, and science. For example, an early step in understanding numbers and letters is to recognize their shape.

My lesson today focuses on  four basic 2D shapes that are square, triangle, rectangle and circle. To teach grade 1 students the basic 2D shapes, I have  used simple but effective teaching learning materials ( TLM) or you can call content based material, made in Power Point Presentation (ppt) with some animation because it is an easy and effective program while teaching. Learning shapes is very important and it is much more fun and interesting. 

Learning objectives

By the end of the lesson each child will be able to,

identify 2D shapes after teachers explanation.

The instructions for creating content based materials/TLM  are as follow

·         First of all, I have chosen Power Point out of many other ICT tools to create TLM

·         Then I have inserted the shape in each slide with the name of the shape

·         Next I have colored the shape to look attractive

·         And also added some animation to look more attractive to children

·       Lastly, I have around  8 slides in which last slides shows how we have to carry out our activity after the explanation of TLM

     When should the material be used?

     The material can be used for teaching or introducing basic 2D shapes to class I students. It can be used in lesson development and learning activity because to introduce the basic 2D shapes we can use this ppt or video lesson where students can understand what is 2D shape and what are the types of 2D shapes. It can be also used in learning activity where students have to create or draw somethings using 2D shapes.

      Activity Instruction

     Create or draw any pictures or objects using different 2D shapes in your notebook.

Self Introduction

Hi everyone!

I am Sonam Lhaden from Dagana, my friends call me Bins. I am a BE.d primary student at Paro Collage of Education. Let me share my hobbies or interest in a brief, I like playing basketball, football, painting, singing, dancing, k-drama freak, exploring new places and eating. My family includes my mom and  dad and my three elder brothers. I would say I am lucky to have them and they are everything to me.

My first step towards education is the first day of my school in Wangdue lower secondary school in 2004. Before joining Paro collage of Education I studied in three different schools. I studied PP in wangdue lower secondary school, I to X I studied in Dagapela middle secondary school and high school in Ugyen Acadmy, Punakha. My school days have been always amazing around my beautiful friends with love and happiness every time.

I want to share about the kind of person I am and what I believe in. I am a bold-brave kind of person and I have my own personal philosophy when it comes to my own life. I believe in god,  karma, truthfulness, and being who you are. As a person I don’t fear anything, I just do what I think I must and tell what I should. People may judge me but what I care is about being myself and I think I am doing good.

Let me now talk briefly about my Blog, ICT in Education. This blog is mainly about how to apply and encourage and  ICT in teaching and learning (Education). It  is part of our assignment in ICT model. It is to  help reader or to ourselves (teacher in becoming) to promote ICT in educational filed ( teaching and learning).

So lastly, I believe that what goes on this blog is my responsibility, and by working with my blog, all of us can create an ideal environment for education, safety, understanding, and even fun. By keeping things positive, I believe that readers will end up learning more and getting more out of each and every post.
